The first piece I ever created was in a dream. Or rather, it created itself and came to me 6 times a night. In my recurring dream, I held a large egg, which then broke, oozing butterflies and plants that burst forth in tremendous momentum. The wonder of creation discovered amidst the broken shells.

Each time I woke up from this dream, it was as if I had been hallucinating. I did not understand what I had seen but remembered every detail. Even in my waking hours, the dream was relentless, and I struggled to decipher its meaning.

Around that time, I wished to fulfill a long-standing fantasy and travel to New York. As I struggled to figure out what I was supposed to do about my recurring dream, I felt I had to break the mold and open myself up for some new experiences. So, I headed to New York for that big trip I had been planning for years. In one of my wanderings across the city streets, I walked into a Taxidermist shop that sold stuffed animals and ostrich eggs. The “Ka-Ching!” in my head must have been heard for miles away. I purchased some ostrich eggs and decided, literally, to make my dream a reality.

When I finished working on the first egg, I felt immense satisfaction. The dream finally came to life and received meaning and closure in the physical world. A full circle. And as that circle closed, a powerful creative impulse erupted from my soul, pushing me toward unchartered places.
