METAMORPHOSE

I remember the first time I was exposed to the Rorschach tests. The idea is to invite people to look at symmetrical inkblots and say what shapes they see in them. Different people perceive these ink stains according to their subjective truths, related to their worlds of interest and emotion, providing an incidental glimpse into their minds. Through this experiment, I realized the great value of random inward-looking gaze, unintentional and undirected – a game of associations with the subconscious.

Art’s purpose is to originate discourse, touch you, prompt feelings, emotions and thoughts.

The “Metamorphose” series was born out of my attraction to botany and insects fused with an uncontrollable need to invent something new that would combine those two worlds. So, the insects were dismantled and then reassembled, inspired by orchids and rare flowers, into shapes that are pretty similar to flowers at first glance. However, upon further examination, you would discover the world of your personal content and the individual interpretation your subconscious gives to what it sees.

I have chosen to display the works on backgrounds of amorphous shapes created by nature, spots that are actually mushrooms, and various moss species that grow on tree trunks in the jungles. So, take a moment and flow where your subconscious takes you.
