About the artist

Haim Afriat, an artist and photographer, lives in Jaffa, Israel.

Afriat describes his passion for nature as something that leads him in life. As a child, he wandered for hours in the open fields outside his house, disappeared into the thick vegetation, lay on the ground, and was one with nature. His attraction to insects was born intuitively following the many hours he spent in their natural habitats and later became one of the main elements guiding his work..

His art combines botany and insects, materials and textures from conflicting worlds that, together, create a new and euphoric reality where anything is possible. Using raw materials he collects around the world; he generates and conveys an experience as accurate and close to the original as possible His residential home, which also serves as a gallery for his works, is inspired by his exotic world travels, allowing the viewer an opportunity to experience the excitement, adventure and uncertainty as if he were a partner in the journeys.

Afriat comes from a background in interior design, which helps him translate experiences and emotions into design elements, making the house and gallery a complete and harmonious display. The motifs that dominate the space bring the wild jungles into an urban space. One can wander among the original pieces that juggle within the boundaries of reason, challenging the subconscious.

You are invited to get inspired by his works and discover a new world where freedom of thought reigns supreme. This is your chance to put on the pink-lensed glasses you abandoned in childhood and allow yourselves to dive into a magical world where you will discover… well – YOU!
