PAPER RINFOREST

A world built leaf by leaf

Every tree in Paper Rainforest is meticulously handcrafted from paper. The series is part of the sculptural universe I have been developing over the years a body of work in which each series reveals a different perspective on the same imagined world.
Where earlier works expanded toward life-scale environments, this series turns inward, exploring the quiet intensity of a miniature rainforest. Sculpted black clay columns elevate the forest, allowing it to exist as a suspended landscape with its own internal logic.
The absence of animals and human presence is intentional. Here, the forest is not a setting but the protagonist. Its architecture, density, rhythm, and organic relationships become the narrative, inviting the viewer to encounter vegetation as a living structure in itself.
Rather than reducing the experience of nature, the miniature format concentrates it. Scale becomes a tool for slowing perception, encouraging an intimate form of looking in which complexity gradually unfolds. What first appears as a small landscape reveals itself as a complete ecosystem.
Like the other series in my practice, Paper Rainforest does not seek to represent nature, but to construct an autonomous world. It is an exploration of quiet monumentality a place where an entire rainforest can exist within the intimacy of a single gaze while continuing to expand in the viewer’s imagination.
